How to Sync Exchange Public Folders to Mobile Devices

Technology and hardware for mobile devices has far surpassed the needed software systems to accomplish the demands of mobile users. ActiveSync is a mobile data synchronization application that was developed by Microsoft. It was originally released in 1996. ActiveSync allows a mobile device to be synchronized with a desktop PC or a server running a compatible software product including Microsoft Exchange Server.

Currently,
there is NO Exchange Public Folder sync support natively within ActiveSync, desktop or Exchange ActiveSync (EAS). You must download a third-party application to solve this problem. To locate one of the third-party applications, follow the below steps.

  • Apple iPhone - Launch the Apple App Store and enter the following keywords: Public Folders. From here, select (download) that App that meets your mobile needs.
  • Android devices - Open your favorite search engine and enter the following keywords: View Public Folders Android. From here, select (download) that App that meets your mobile needs.
Note: Trial the third-party app first. Most of these are view only and will not synchronize from the mobile device to the Exchange server.
