Description
A third party add-in can sometimes cause problems in Outlook. If Outlook is exhibiting abnormal behavior, start Outlook in safe mode to see if the behavior goes away. If so, then disable the add-ins using the Add-in manager.

Outlook 2003 (SP2 or greater), Outlook 2007
Solution
To start Outlook in safe mode (applies to all versions):
Start>Run
Type: outlook.exe /safe
To disable Add-ins in Outlook 2003:
In Outlook, click the Tools Menu>Options>Other Tab>Advanced Options>Add-In Manager button.
Uncheck any items that refer to a program (e.g. “Google toolbar”), or that are not one of the items in the next section.
Items that should be checked include (if applicable):
· Delegate Access
· Deleted Item Recovery
· Redemption Helper Outlook Extension
· Exchange Extensions commands
· Exchange Extensions property pages
· Server Scripting
Next, click the “COM Add-Ins” button and uncheck any items found in there.
To disable Add-ins in Outlook 2007:
In Outlook, click the Tools Menu>TrustCenter
Click the Add-ins button on the upper left
Click the Go… button next to COM Add-ins
Uncheck any items that refer to a program (e.g. “Google toolbar”), or that are not one of the items in the next section.
Items that should be checked include (if applicable):
· Delegate Access
· Deleted Item Recovery
· Redemption Helper Outlook Extension
· Exchange Extensions commands
· Exchange Extensions property pages
· Server Scripting
Click the dropdown menu to select “Exchange Client Extensions” and check there as above.
